Explore the nature and culture of Upper Lusatia by bike!

Combine a round trip through the different landscapes of Upper Lusatia with art and culture. You will cycle through the Zittau Mountains with their sandstone cliffs and along the Oder-Neisse cycle path to the Heide- und Teichlandschaft biosphere reserve. Of course, there is also time to stroll through the town and visit the cultural highlights along the route.

Stage 1 - Spree Cycle Route to Neugersdorf (46 km)
Your first stage, which largely consists of tarmac cycle paths, takes you past small towns and villages with typical Umgebinde houses to Ebersbach-Neugersdorf, where all 3 sources of the Spree flow together.

2. Stage - long-distance cycle route "Saxon Central Mountains" (45 km)
The Zittau Mountains with their mighty sandstone cliffs around the spa towns of Jonsdorf and Oybin form today's highlight.

3. Stage 3 - Oder-Neisse cycle route to Ostritz (19 km)
The completely preserved historic town centre of Zittau with the flower clock & Meissen porcelain chimes and countless valuable monuments is beautiful. The destination is the monastery of St. Marienthal, the oldest nunnery of the Cistercian order in Germany.

Stage 4 - Oder-Neisse Cycle Route to Görlitz (20 km)
Between squares full of character within a closed Wilhelminian style development, lovingly renovated Art Nouveau buildings, the historic flair of the old town and 3.

Stage 5 - Oder-Neisse Cycle Route to Bad Muskau (70 km)
The cycle route now leads from the valley of the Lusatian Neisse to the Muskau Heath and on to Bad Muskau with its UNESCO World Heritage-listed Prince Pückler Park and Muskau Castle.

Stage 6 - Frog Cycle Path and Spree Cycle Path to Boxberg (41 km)
The entire Upper Lusatian heath and pond landscape is a paradise for frogs and has been protected by UNESCO as a biosphere reserve.

7. Stage 7 - Spree Cycle Route to Bautzen (45 km)
The route ends by passing through the largest contiguous artificial lake system in Europe and from there into the landscape characterised by lignite mining, which has been and is still being gradually renatured.
