Be enchanted by the oriental silk wallpaper and classicist rooms.
With its imposing silhouette, Wildenfels Castle towers above the town on a rocky outcrop. More than 800 years ago, a castle was built on this site, and today the historic complex is characterised by its 18th-century renovations.
The small residence of the Counts of Solms is best known for its unique paper and silk wallpaper from that period. The decorations featuring exotic birds, figures in opulent robes and colourful flowers invite visitors to dream.
The ‘Blue Salon’ and the ‘Chinese Cabinet’ are particularly worth seeing. But the impressive wall and ceiling paintings by the former court painter Christian Leberecht Vogel are also worth a visit. The classicist castle hall, the count's library and the exhibitions in the ‘Musenhof’ and the contemporary gallery round off the visit.
