Rochlitz Castle

At a glance

The daughter-in-law of Duke George the Bearded allowed the Reformation in her territories and was the only female member of the Schmalkaldic League

For more than 1,000 years, Schloss Rochlitz Castle has towered majestically on a rock high above the Mulde river, just between Leipzig and Chemnitz. And yet, it houses a state-of-the-art interactive exhibition. At numerous events, history can be experienced up-close.

The castle is today a building of historic importance among the State Palaces, Castles and Gardens of Saxony. It has recently been extensively renovated and is open to visitors as a museum.
