At the beginning of the 19th century, summer houses of the citizens of Leipzig were built along Schillerweg, surrounded by generous garden areas. Many of these gardens and houses still provide an insight into old Gohlis, such as the Schillerhaus, where Friedrich Schiller wrote the Ode to Joy in 1785. Many of these gardens and houses still provide an insight into old Gohlis, such as the Schillerhaus, where Friedrich Schiller wrote the Ode to Joy in 1785. In Platnerstraße, we see the remains of the mill building. The nearby Rosental and Auwald offered ideal conditions as a summer retreat for wealthy merchants. The construction of the Gohliser Schlösschen is an outstanding example of bourgeois Baroque architecture. From Schlösschenweg with Villa Ida and the VEB Goldeck, we proceed to Menckestraße, which features a variety of buildings from the Historicism period. The history of individual houses and the architecture of the founding era are presented. Finally, the Gosebrauerei "Ohne Bedenken" with its beer garden invites visitors.
