The Rechenberg private brewery has succeeded in impressively presenting the 450-year history of the brewery and the entire process of traditional beer production - from the raw materials to the finished product.
The complete preservation of the historically valuable building fabric, from the brewhouse in 1780 to the underground vaulted cellars in unity with the complete and fully functional brewing technology, is widely unique.
You are therefore cordially invited to visit the "Saxon Brewery Museum" in Rechenberg-Bienenmühle in the Eastern Ore Mountains.
Beer route:
As early as 1558, Caspar IV von Schönberg transferred the brewing rights to the Rechenberg estate, making the Rechenberg private brewery one of the oldest breweries in Saxony. The buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries have stood the test of time and were painstakingly restored between 1995 and 2002 to become one of the most important sights in the region - the "Saxon Brewery Museum Rechenberg". From the brewhouse dating back to 1780 to the fully preserved and fully functional brewing technology and the underground vaulted cellars, the entire process of traditional beer production can be followed on a guided tour. After the tour, you can experience real beer conviviality and rustic coziness during a beer tasting in the magnificent cross vaults of the former malthouse, today's Schalander. The popular Rechenberg beer specialties are brewed and bottled at the old location right next to the historic brewery in a newly built, ultra-modern brewery.
