The fourth Advent at Voigtsberg Castle is once again dominated by the "Historic Castle Christmas". Here, guests can experience Christmas as it might have been in the early days - an adventure for the whole family. Visitors cannot expect a Christmas market in the conventional sense, but rather the contemplation and festivity of the holidays at the end of the 19th century. This period was characterized by industrialization, the German Empire and a growing bourgeoisie. In addition to the obligatory crafts, the Jugenstil Ferris wheel, the nostalgia carousel, the demonstrations with the Tesla coils, the barber's studio, the toy store with historical tin toys and the "Amt für Ätherwesen" ("Office for Ether") are not to be missed. Details such as the "match girl" are just as much a part of the Christmas experience as the fascinating puppet theater, the traveling folk with "workers' songs", the "Hau den Lukas", the lovely Christmas angel make eyes light up, while Prince Otto von Bismarck himself unveils the statue created especially for the castle Christmas (which was melted down during the war in 1944). The culinary journey through time then continues on the palate. In addition to spiced wine, wafers, Baumstriezel and gingerbread, local bambes, tarte flambée, cheese pancakes and "gezupfte Sau" are popular delicacies.
The Schlossweihnacht is open on Saturday, December 20 and Sunday, December 21 from 11:00 a.m. Steppkes under four Prussian "feet" tall may pass through the castle guard without hindrance. In addition, the Voigtsberg Castle museums are open until 18:00 on both days.
