Discover wines from Saxony

Saxony boasts one of Germany's smallest and the northernmost wine-growing area with less than 500 hectares of vineyard. Cool climate and loess soil work harmoniously to create delicate white wines, particularly Riesling and Müller-Thurgau. However und unknown to most they also produce exquisit and award-winning Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir). Saxony’s winemaking community is both vibrant and intimate with only 38 fully commercial wineries. A very good reason to explore this wine region with all its facettes.

Want to become a connoisseur?

best done by tasting

Saxon wines are available for tasting year-round at various local restaurants, bars, and shops, each featuring a selection of regional wines. For a deeper dive into Saxon wine culture, we recommend visiting Wackerbarth Castle in Radebeul, the second oldest sparkling wine producer in Germany, where you can gain valuable insight into “Sekt” production. Alternatively, check out Hoflössnitz, also in Radebeul, which houses the local wine museum. Both locations offer excellent tastings in beautiful surroundings and welcome visitors throughout the year.
