A scenic circular hiking route around Schneeberg with magnificent views over the Ore Mountains. The approximately 19 km long route leads over Gleesberg, the Filzteich, Lindenau, Griesbach, and Keilberg back to the city center. Two observation towers, diverse landscape impressions, and traces of mining make the hike a varied experience.
The Schneeberg panorama circular route combines nature, history, and magnificent views.
The starting point is the town hall in the center, from where the route leads via the steep Köhlerweg to Gleesberg (593 m above sea level) – the highest point of the route. From there, the view opens wide over the mountain ranges of the Ore Mountains up to the Fichtelberg.
The path runs along forest and field trails, past the Filzteich, the Türkschacht, the Jung Wildschwein mine, and the observation towers Köhlerturm and Bismarckturm. Time and again, impressive panoramas of Schneeberg with St. Wolfgang's Cathedral, the Neustädt mining landscape, and the idyllic districts Lindenau and Griesbach offer themselves. The circular route is easily walkable, can be shortened, and offers multiple options for starting or returning by public transport.
