The circular route, named after a potato dish and equipped with information boards, offers a journey through 800 years, where nature and history enthusiasts alike will find something to enjoy.
The Klitscherweg owes its name to a Saxon sweet dish similar to Quarkkeulchen, baked in linseed oil, which was brought to Weißig in 1821 by miners from Johanngeorgenstadt. The Klitscher, made of boiled potatoes, quark, flour, egg, sugar, and salt, was a tasty, inexpensive meal.
Besides magnificent views of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains and the hills of the Eastern Ore Mountains as well as the romantic Breiten Grund, the route is characterized by 43 large information boards lining the path, especially in the village area. These signs, additionally equipped with a code usable by visually impaired people, provide insights into the development of the place named Wizoch first mentioned in 1235. The time travel informs about the districts of Ober- and Unterweißig, shaped by agriculture and mining. There are stories about traders, craftsmen, farmers, miners, local politicians, outstanding athletes, and clubs who have shaped the place.
