A short walk to the original site of the city of Görlitz awaits you, including a visit to St. Peter's Church, the Holy Sepulchre and St. Nicholas' Cemetery.
The route takes you from St. Peter's Church along the Via Dolorosa to the oldest part of the city - the Nikolai suburb - to the Holy Sepulchre and back again.
During the tour, you will pass the Nikolai Tower, which was part of the city's old defenses. Next to it is the Nikolaizwinger with parts of the old city wall.
During the tour, you can visit the Nikolaifriedhof cemetery, where the mystic and theosophist Jacob Böhme, Görlitz's most famous son, has his gravestone. Not far from the cemetery is the Finstertor, the last existing city gate. It was first mentioned in a document in 1455 as "Tor bei dem Totengräber". The adjacent half-timbered house was the home of the executioner from 1571. Due to his dishonorable profession, he had to move outside the city gates. The inscription "1666 - L.S.B.", which refers to Lorenz Straßburger, the executioner in Görlitz at the time, is attached to what is now known as the executioner's house.
