The Cultural Trail takes you through the idyllic river Weida valley along the western boundary of the medieval Vogtland region on this stage.
There are fortified village churches from the medieval period in Schömberg, Grochwitz, Steinberg and Schüptitz, for example. We then make our way to Reichenfels castle ruins. Picturesquely embedded in the landscape, it has been attracting hikers, cyclists and those interested in history for 75 years. One of the oldest historical associations in Germany has its headquarters here, the Hohenleuben Vogtland Archaeologists’ Association.
There is a medieval farmstead dating from the 13th century in Döhlen, a church that is worth seeing in Wöhlsdorf near Auma and an historical village ensemble in Rohna.
You arrive at the lovingly restored round castle in Oberpöllnitz via Niederpöllnitz. You can discover the traces of medieval history along the former town fortifications in Triptis and Auma. The destination for this stage is the former royal residential town of Schleiz.
