Schmölln was elevated to the status of a town by the Reeves between 1324 and 1329. It has one of the largest market squares in Central Germany – it is almost 200 metres long.
Interesting exhibitions await you at Blankenhain Castle and Posterstein Castle before, having passed through the town of Ronneburg with its castle and church, you finally reach the former seat of power of the Reeves of Gera at Osterstein Castle.
