Pure nature of Upper Lusatia on this devilish approx. 20 km long stage to Germany's largest village church. Wonderful, easy-to-walk field and forest paths await you!
After the urban and sacred beauties of Bautzen with its towers and churches and picturesque alleys, you will find the perfect contrast on this section. Only forests, rocks, and fields. Over cozy meadow paths and soon entering the forest, the first interesting point is reached soon, the Schmoritz mountain with its old redoubt, which probably dates from Slavic times. Then it continues to the Rote Schenke, from there to the Hromadnik. On the ridge path, the devil has let loose, as wild rugged rocks are found, some of which look like a devil's face and small formations like devil's foot, devil's washbasin, and devil's window. The highest point is the legendary Czorneboh, the Black God – places that were important in pre-Christian religion. From the tower there is some view, in the Bergbaude Labung. Along further beautiful paths, past blooming meadows and forests full of foxgloves, Cunewalde is soon reached.
