Grimma train station
The route starts at Grimma railroad station. Follow Karl-Marx-Straße to Colditzer Straße. Hikers arriving by bus should follow Schulstraße from Nicolaiplatz to Park am Schwanenteich.
The route leads through the park via Verlobungsgässchen, Floßplatz and Colditzer Weg to the Muldenschifffahrt landing stage. From here, take the boat to the "village of the senses" in Höfgen. From the ship's mill jetty, you walk past the "Zur Schiffsmühle" adventure hotel. You will pass here again on the way back.
Follow the Muldental hiking trail as far as Zur Fähre. Continue along this road to the "village of the senses" Höfgen. See, hear, touch, taste, smell - but also observe, feel and understand. The "Village of the Senses" will enliven your sensory perception, it will inspire and refresh you.
The path now leads you back to the adventure hotel via Höfgener Dorfstraße and Zur Schiffsmühle. Here you will find refreshment stops, an adventure playground and a miniature golf course.
Now take the path to the right of the Mulde towards Grimma. On the path of stones - a themed trail - you will reach the Rabenstein, a viewing point on the Mulde in the city forest. Then follow the path to the suspension bridge - the longest cable-stayed bridge in Saxony. Here you can decide whether to return to Grimma town center or continue along the Mulde riverbank promenade.
Walk along the riverside promenade for approx. 1.4 km. You will then come to the Pöppelmann stone bridge and cross over to the opposite side of the Mulde. Turn left and walk past the castle (now the Leipzig district court), the imposing St. Augustin grammar school building and the monastery church. Continue along the flood protection system, which was completed in 2019, into Mühlstraße, Floßplatz and Kellerhäuser Straße and walk back along Köhlerstraße in the opposite direction.
Stop briefly at the Frauenkirche church, where it is also worth taking a look inside. Continue along Frauenstraße until you reach the market. On the houses you can see the flood marks from the last major flood disasters. Here you will also find Grimma's historic town hall, the tourist information office and the savings bank museum. Various refreshment stops await you here.
