Attractive route through magnificent towns

The Saxon Town Route cycle path is a total of 343 km long and connects numerous towns from the German-Polish border in Görlitz to the Thuringian state border. It is the cross-connection cycle path of the Free State of Saxony (partly German route no. 4) and thus also links the important river cycle paths on the Oder-Neisse, Spree, Elbe, Mulde, and Zschopau rivers. The town route is marked with a red S.

The eastern part of the Saxon Town Route passes through Görlitz, Löbau, Bautzen, and Kamenz, four towns of the historic Upper Lusatian Six-Town League, which was founded as a defensive and protective alliance in 1346. In Dresden Elbland, the route leads via Radebeul and Coswig to Meißen and from there through the Triebischtal to Nossen. The route is gently hilly and well developed.

The western part continues to Freiberg, Chemnitz, and Glauchau to Crimmitschau and connects in Thuringia to the Thuringian town chain. In the foothills of the Ore Mountains, some more significant climbs must be mastered. In parts, the route leads over country roads. Note: The western part is not continuously signposted.

Connecting cycle paths: connecting cycle paths include, for example, the Oder-Neisse cycle path in Görlitz, the Spree cycle path in Bautzen, the Elbe cycle path in Dresden and Meißen, the D-route 4 in Dresden (from Posterstein to Freiberg, the route of D-route 4 is identical to the Saxon Town Route), and the Mulde Valley cycle path in Freiberg.
