Family-friendly bike tour around Geyer with numerous worthwhile stops; accessible from about May once the snow has melted in the forest.

The round trip, which is about 15 km in length, will take you past some delightful points of interest in and around Geyer. Cycle through our beautiful municipal forest and visit the sights in the town centre. For example, spanning seven floors, the Turmmuseum is one of the highest and most beautiful tower museums in Germany. Not far away is the Lotterhof, a unique example of Renaissance architecture in the Ore Mountains. In addition, visitors will be amazed by the sink-hole/collapse shaft, the symbol of Geyer and a natural monument reminding us of past mining activity here. At the Altmarkt you will find a historical milepost, as well as a bakery that begins offering soft serve ice cream in June, a tourist information office with library, pizza facilities, and a newly designed square with water features and benches to rest on. In the wild and romantic Greifenbachtal valley, the route leads you past the ski jump complex, where Eric Frenzel, Olympic champion and world champion in Nordic combined, once got his first taste of skiing. You will also encounter many old witnesses to the town’s mining days. Head to the Greifenbach reservoir for a fitting end to your excursion, perhaps swimming at the sandy beach, pedal boating, playing mini golf or at the adventure playground.
