This short tour takes you south of the Zschopau over hill and dale, past witnesses of medieval mining and along the Zschopau.

There are many hiking trails in and around Zschopau, but no tour is as varied over a short distance as this one.

From Wildeck Castle, cross the Zschopau bridge and walk up the old Marienberger Straße to Zschopenberg elementary school. Take the Wurzelweg to the K8174 and follow it into town to the Steghaus. A narrow path to the right past the house takes you directly to the Zschopau. Here you can enjoy a picnic at the site of the Holy Trinity mine.

Continue upstream until you reach the ski jumps of the "Am Zschopenberg" winter sports center. From there, it is just a short walk along Obere Mühlstraße and over the Zschopau bridge back to the castle.

After the tour, you will still have enough energy left to climb the 144 steps of the "Dicker Heinrich" keep in the castle courtyard of Wildeck Castle. (Museums and tower open according to opening times).
