The route of the ‘Heide-Biber-Tour’, marked with a beaver symbol, begins at the Bad Düben spa gardens in Gustav-Adolf-Strasse. First, it leads past the moor experience garden, Obermühlteich and the restored Bockwindmühle. Follow the footpath that runs parallel to the B2. At the first houses of Hammermühle, turn left, walk to the bank of the Hammerbach, turn right and walk upstream. With a little luck, you may discover the work of beavers here in the form of beaver castles or gnawed tree trunks. After a while, the Hammerbach stream describes a left turn where you keep to the right. You pass through the settlement area of Hammermühle, cross the B2 and hike to the next crossroads in the forest. There, you turn left and hike first straight ahead and then diagonally right to Tornau, where the Stelenweg and the wood sculpture path can be admired. On the Söllichauer Straße, go in the direction of the village center. Already behind the first houses, however, you turn right and leave Tornau behind quite soon. Now the path leads through the Hammerbach valley past inviting seating areas and the Döbeltsmühle mill to Eisenhammer. There you will find a charcoal kiln that still practices and demonstrates the old craft of charcoal making. Not far from there is the beaver observation tower. The old forest paths Dachszange, Reichsapfelweg and Reinharzer Weg now lead you through the middle of the Dübener Heide directly to the moated castle Reinharz, which is already visible coming out of the forest. In addition to the moated castle with its park, the church, the Sophienquelle spring and the Brauhausteich pond invite you to visit. After an extensive tour, you will enter the forest again, where you will pass the Heideteich with a shelter. During a rest here, you can experience numerous animals of the forest. Afterward, the path leads straight to a wide forest road. On the other side, you continue the route on the boardwalk. After a while you will pass the gypsy grave, walk a few meters along the road to the left and then turn right in the direction of the Kaiser Wilhelm tower, passing the maiden grave on the way. The view from the tower reaches far over the Dübener Heide. Afterward, you go through the forest at the Vitriol pond and past the Walkmühle over the ‘Moorerlebnispfad’ in the direction of Bad Schmiedeberg. You walk through the spa gardens and finally reach the art nouveau spa house - your destination. On the shore of the Swan Pond with its fountain, you can end the hike comfortably.
