Monasteries, castles and the impressive Mildenstein Castle shape the river section of the Mulde between Leisnig and Grimma popular with paddlers.
The 27 km long water route on the Mulde from Leisnig to Grimma is one of the most popular paddling routes for the whole family. The route starts on the Freiberger Mulde, with a view of the beautiful Mildenstein Castle. Without annoying portage around weirs, you can paddle all the way to Grimma.
The Freiberger Mulde has a lot to offer, small rapids and gravel bars (observe nature protection) alternate with calmly flowing water. Wasserschloss Podelwitz is a rest stop for water hikers, cyclists, car and motorbike travelers. Gastronomy or snack bar, you have the choice.
In Sermuth, the Freiberger and Zwickauer Mulde unite to form the Vereinigte Mulde. Various water birds can be observed, which accompany you on the river all the way to Grimma.
Near the end of the paddling tour you pass the ferry at Höfgen, with the ship mill on the right and the Nimbschen monastery on the left. On the last 3 km, you will meet the ships of the Mulde shipping company, which always have right of way!
