Route section source Schöneck/Vogtland to Aue

Schöneck – the highest town in the Vogtland at over 700 m above sea level – is the ideal starting point for your bike route along the Zwickauer Mulde. Start your route near the station at the source of the Rote Mulde. On well-developed forest paths and partly paved sections, you cycle through idyllic forest and meadow landscapes towards the Ore Mountains; past the Muldenberg reservoir, you reach the rafting village of Muldenberg and continue to Morgenröthe-Rautenkranz, the birthplace of the first German cosmonaut. From here, you follow exclusively paved paths to the mountain and embroidery town of Eibenstock with its wide range of tourist offerings. Past the Blauenthal waterfall, it then goes on a former railway line converted into a bike path along the Mulde to Aue. If you are suddenly greeted on the way with "Glück auf!" (Good luck!), it is an unmistakable sign that you have now entered the Ore Mountains.
