We turn left at Bundesstraße 2 just before the Mulde bridge to stay on the Mulde cycle path. Alternatively, we let ourselves roll into the picturesque spa town. Shortly after the Mulde bridge, you will see the tourist information office on the left with the 1000-year-old Düben Castle directly behind it, from where you have a fantastic view. Back on the cycle path, we follow the course past the Altenhof estate and the "Rote Ufer" on the other side of the Mulde. We keep to the course of the river, passing the dyke path north of Löbnitz. We cross both the Alte Mulde and the Lober-Leine Canal before crossing the border with Saxony-Anhalt unnoticed and coming to the main road L139, which we change sides of. The Great Goitzsche Lake now lies ahead of us. The lake, which emerged from a former open-cast mining area, is now a popular and lively local recreation area. We make a point of visiting the Goitzsche Landscape Park on the Pouch peninsula. Back on the cycle path, we follow it closely along the beach until we reach the Bernsteinsee lido. Here we turn right and cross the B 100. We now continue straight ahead and turn left into Kraftwerksstraße at the end of the Mulde reservoir north of Friedersdorf. We follow the road through a train underpass. At first we keep left and then turn right at the next junction heading north until we reach the main road L 139 again. Here we turn left onto the main road and follow it for about 300 meters. We now turn left again into the street Zur Luther Linde. We follow the road and cross the Mulde and the Leine culvert. We are now on the last stage before the estuary.
