A round trip through natural scenic diversity

The tour starts at the cycle route signpost in the castle parking lot opposite Moritzburg Tourist Information. Cross Schlossallee and ride past the stables of the Saxon State Stud into the one-way street. Follow the signs through a small residential area. At the end, drive through a historic gate, turn immediately left and then right to Kleine Fasanenstraße. You will cross the canal , a former navigable connection for courtly festivities. At the end of Kleine Fasanenstraße you turn right to the Großteich. At the height of the dam, you will pass through a historic gap in the wild wall into the Pheasant Garden with the Pheasant Castle. On the left side is the well-known Moritzburg game reserve.Follow the path along the nature reserve Frauenteich for about 2 km and turn right into Kalkreuther Straße. Pass the Bauernteich and turn left into Naunhofer Straße , from where you can see the foothills of the Lusatian Mountains. After about 2.5 km on a forest road you reach the district Steinbach. At the end of the village turn right into Mistschänkenweg , cross the state road S 81 and arrive at the traditional inn Mistschänke.After about 700 m turn left into the signposted forest path. Following the signs, cross the S 81 and reach the district of Auer. Cross the two state roads in Auer. On the right side of the tour is the idyllic Ilschenteich . After 2 km you leave the forest and drive into the small hilltop landscape with the district Friedewald. Cross under the S 81 in the St. Ulrich road tunnel. In the village of Dippelsdorf, it is worth making a detour to the Red House, the domicile of the Brücke artists, who accentuated expressionist painting here. Follow the signs over the S81 road bridge and you will reach the district of Friedewald-Buchholz. Follow the signs to the romantic Lößnitzgrund . After about 0.5 km on the Lößnitzgrundstraße turn left into the steeply uphill street Am Brand.You will reach the highlands of the district Reichenberg and turn right there. Once you reach the district of Boxdorf, cross the S 179 and ride uphill along Windmühlenweg to the highest point of the bike tour. Now push your bike a short distance downhill and turn left into Waldteichstraße. After 1 km you cross the S 81 again and after another 700 m turn left into the Alte Dresdner Straße to Moritzburg. At the entrance to Moritzburg you will find the Rad'l-Eck, an iconic cycling pub. From there, you can take the direct route to Schlossallee and the Moritzburg castle parking lot.

Note: In wet weather, the forest and field path tour sections may have poor path quality.
