The hike runs through the Mulde floodplain, along long stretches of the Mulde River, over meadow paths, and through small idyllic villages. The hiker is rewarded upon arrival by the beautiful Protestant parish church in Löbnitz, where you can find the largest and most extensive biblical ceiling painting in Germany.
The path to Löbnitz runs on meadow paths very close to the river. Small forest sections are crossed, and until Reibitz, the path goes along the forest edge. Then you reach the Seelhausener Lake via field and forest paths. At this point, hikers are offered a wonderful view. Passing a stud farm, you approach the town center and the church, which is famous for its ceiling made of coffered panels with biblical images and floral motifs. In Luther’s time, the route from Wittenberg to Leipzig went via Kemberg and Löbnitz. The manor owner Ernst von Schönfeldt was friendly with Luther.
