Dahlen is the southern gate to the Dahlener Heide, a wonderful landscape that is perfect for hiking, pausing, and finding peace. The protected landscape area in the Nordsachsen region is covered with mixed pine forests, through which romantic forest paths lead. Besides the landscape, you can also admire a historic post mill near Schmannewitz and the double-doored church of the town of Dahlen from the year 1136.
This short route, which is essentially an approach path to the Lutherweg Sachsen, leads through short woodland sections, along small fast streams, and idyllic meadow ponds. Luther often had to pass through this area on his travels between Torgau and Grimma. After the Reformation was introduced in Albertine Saxony in 1539, the town of Dahlen also opened up to the new faith. In Dahlen, you should visit the city church, which houses a 35m² large fresco of Saint Christopher.
