The ‘Luther Trail in Saxony’ leads as a spiritual circular hiking trail through the scenic region.

Even today, noticeable effects and impulses of the Reformation are still visible and alive. In 1519, the Leipzig Disputation took place at the Pleißenburg, which spread Lutheran ideas. In Torgau, Eilenburg and Leipzig, the citizens opened up to the Reformation views at a very early stage. In Leisnig, Luther developed the Leisniger Kastenordnung in 1523, the oldest Protestant social paper in the world. Other stops along the Luther Trail Saxony are closely linked to the strong women of the Reformation. Katharina von Bora, Luther's future wife, lived in the Nimbschen Monastery near Grimma. In the towns of Rochlitz and Kriebstein, Duchess Elisabeth of Saxony was active and, through her energetic actions, enabled the introduction of the Reformation in her territory as early as 1537. The Luther Trail invites you to pause and come to rest, to find space for reflection and time for prayer in the footsteps of Martin Luther and his companions.
