Lake Cospuden in the south of Leipzig is an example of regional development changing from an open-cast mining area to a vibrant tourist region.

Water sports providers, restaurants, cafés, etc. have settled here. The Scandinavian-style harbor of Zöbigker radiates a very special flair. The dune-like sandy beach on the northern shore is also known as the longest sandy beach in Saxony. In the south, the Bistumshöhe observation tower offers a fascinating view over the Neue Harth forest area. Lake Cospuden can be circumnavigated via an asphalted lakeside path.
