Park in the parking lot behind the town hall on Rabenau's market square and follow the signs to Rabenau railroad station in Rabenau Grund and the "Sagenhafter Mühlberg" adventure trail. A colorful family of chairs greets you at the entrance to the Mühlberg trail. Further along, the steep path is lined with legendary figures as tall as a man and natural play equipment. A large Lümmelsofa invites you to enjoy nature. At the figure of the hermit, follow the hiking signpost to the legend trail or continue along Mühlbergweg to the exit portal and follow Bahnhofstraße towards the train station for a while before turning right to access the legend trail via Konrad-Grüttner-Platz.
Alternatively, you can take a leisurely train ride on the Weißeritztalbahn to Rabenau station. Follow the "Bahnhofstraße" road a little way towards the town (in the direction in which the large raven is facing) and then turn left into a narrow path. Walk uphill and keep left again at the next junction. You will now reach Konrad-Grüttner-Platz. This is where the legend trail begins. Now always follow the signposts. The partly narrow path meanders along the valley slope of the Rabenauer Grund past legendary places such as the bridal bed or the Predigtstuhl.
At the Predigtstuhl, we recommend that you first take the same route back. Please do not continue to the Paul-Laue-Steig, as the Arthur-Lohse bridge to the hiking trail in Rabenauer Grund has been demolished. The return route therefore takes you back the same way for part of the way to the junction with the Semmelsteig. This old path was mentioned as early as 1694. At that time, it led up to the Eckersdorf manor. Today it ends at the Rabenau settlement near Dresdener Straße. The path was given its strange name after the Semmelsweiber, who once used it to bring the delicious white pastries produced in the Rabenau mill to Plaunschen Grund and even to Dresden. Please turn right onto the Semmelsteig and follow the path down the valley until you cross the narrow-gauge railway tracks and the Rote Weißeritz. From here, follow the Rabenauer Grund hiking trail past the Rabenauer Mühle mill. The mill was first mentioned in historical records in 1488. It was a painting, cutting and oil mill, which also operated a bakery and inn, attracting visitors in droves from near and far. Among its loyal guests was Ludwig Richter, one of the most famous German Romantic painters. In 1856, he celebrated the wedding of his daughter Helene here. After a fire in 1868, the "Große Mühle", as it is also known in local history, was rebuilt as a pure inn in the "Swiss style" popular at the time. At Rabenauer Grund station, cross the tracks and walk uphill along the "Mühlberg" pedestrian path past the war memorial to the main street in Rabenau, Freitaler Straße. Turn right there and you will already see the market with the Stuhlbrunnen fountain on your left - your starting point for the legend trail.
