Do you like it sporty? The Höhensteig around the Klingenthal winter sports center offers some challenging climbs on its 50 km. The reward is truly magnificent views of the Saxon-Bohemian border region. And if you like, it gives you deep insights into the musical history of Klingenthal.

The "Höhensteig" runs for its entire 50 km length on the green marking of the Klingenthal/Zwota circular route. Here, you have great views over the border to the Czech Republic as well as insights into the musical history of Klingenthal.

Bohemian exiles once brought the knowledge of violin making into the mountain-surrounded valley and thus created the "sound valley – Klingenthal", whose more than 150 years of hand-pulled instrument making tradition gave the town worldwide renown. To this day, accordions of the "Weltmeister" brand combine sporting and musical tradition into a distinctive character of Klingenthal.

For all musically interested hikers, the Harmonikamuseum Zwota is an absolute must. Over 1000 instruments from Klingenthal and Zwota production of accordions and harmonicas are exhibited there. Another highlight on this hike is the Sparkasse Vogtland Arena with one of the most modern large ski jumps in the world. At the same time, the jump symbolizes the more than 100-year history of Nordic skiing in Klingenthal.

If you don't want to end the day after the hike, you should choose to visit the nearby Music and Winter Sports Museum. There you can learn all about the centuries-old tradition of musical instrument making and the 100-year history of skiing in Klingenthal.

The "Höhensteig" Klingenthal/Zwota circular route offers the hiker, besides its naturalness and scenic beauty, an unforgettable cultural experience with views of the town's finest leisure facilities. With its certification as a "Qualitätsweg Wanderbares Deutschland," it also guarantees a varied route on mostly near-natural paths as well as user-friendly marking.
