The hike begins at the Hoffnung stop in Hinterhermsdorf and from there continues a short distance along Schandauer Straße towards the town center, before sharply turning right down Dorfbachweg. From there, follow the yellow dot on the Hinterhermsdorf Panorama Trail until it crosses a path marked with a red line after a short steep staircase.
After the staircase, go briefly to the right and then immediately back to the left, leading to the Beizehaus – a national park information point – whose visit is worthwhile for both young and old. Then climb the small mountain path up the rock and after a short viewpoint continue following the Hinterhermsdorf Panorama Trail with the yellow dot to the Buchenparkhalle. From there, follow the blue line to the Obere Schleuse.
On the way to the Obere Schleuse, a look into the small and very narrow Dachshöhle cave is worthwhile, which widens somewhat again in the rear section.
At the Obere Schleuse, from Easter to October you can take a boat ride through the Kirnitzschklamm and discover many interesting rock formations as well as learn a lot about the region. Alternatively, a beautiful trail runs above the gorge, offering a great view into the gorge.
From the Obere Schleuse, continue following the red line to Hermannseck, which can be climbed via two variants: either the comfortable path or the narrow and steep staircase. It is recommended to climb using the staircase and descend via the comfortable path, as the reverse is somewhat complicated and not very pleasant due to constant two-way traffic.
After Hermannseck, continue along the blue line following the Kirnitzschtal to the so-called Bärenhöhle in the Wolfsschlucht and, of course, through it. After the Bärenhöhle, continue on the blue line until a sign without markings points to "Hollstraße – Königsplatz." Follow this path, which is a wide forest road and a cycle path, continuously (passing a turnoff to Königsplatz) until another sign with a red line directs left to the Tunnelweg and Königsplatz. From there, follow the red line again to Königsplatz, passing the interesting rear Schweineloch and a rock tunnel.
At Königsplatz, after the longest ascent of the route, you can finally enjoy the outstanding view into the Bohemian and the Rear Saxon Switzerland.
From Königsplatz, the route descends again following the blue and green lines to Zollstraße, which you cross, then continue straight along an unmarked forest trail downhill. Here you need to be careful not to miss a little-used path turning right into a ravine called Finsterwäldchen, which you then cross until you reach a wide forest road (Lindigtstraße) with gravel.
Follow Lindigtstraße uphill to the Lindigthöhle – a very large bedding cave. From this cave, continue uphill on Lindigtstraße until a path (marked with a red line) leaves it straight ahead at a right curve. Follow this path uphill until a sign points to the last two destinations of the route – the Lindigtblick and the Brüdersteine. The path there is marked with a green dot and also clearly signposted.
After exploring the Lindigtblick and the Brüdersteine, return from the Brüdersteine until the next sign shows the way (marked with a red line) back to Hinterhermsdorf to the starting point.
