This hike leads in a circular tour on the Schöneck plateau with only a few inclines from Schöneck to the idyllic Muldenberg dam and on via Kottenheide back to Schöneck.
The rustling forests have a calming and decelerating effect in today's hectic times. The air smells wonderfully fresh and the view of the calm water of the Muldenberg dam is deeply relaxing.

We start our hike at the tourist information office at the hiking and trail house in Schöneck. The path leads us over the Muldenquelle recreation area onto the sand path in the direction of Muldenberg. We follow the blue markings to the pre-barrier of the Muldenberg dam, then we turn left onto the green marked path. This path leads us to Muldenberg. There are various options for stopping off here, the dam wall can be visited or the raft area with a small playground. To continue the hike, we take the same path back, but do not turn to the pre-barrier, but stay on the green marked hiking trail towards Kottenheide. Crossing the village, we follow the yellow marking, the Kirchsteig, back to Schöneck from the end of the village.

In the small mountain village of Kottenheide, the beautifully designed village square with playground invites the whole family to linger.
Motorway A72 from Leipzig, exit Plauen Ost, via Mechelgrün, Bergen, Poppengrün to Schöneck. Motorway A93 from Bavaria to triangle Bayrisch-Vogtland, then A72 to exit Plauen-Süd and then via Oelsnitz, Tirschendorf and Arnoldsgrün to Schöneck follow the signs for the skiing area or tourist information.

With the RB 1 line of the Vogtlandbahn you can easily reach Schöneck (IFA Ferienpark stop) by train. In the hiking and cross-country skiing facility you will find lockers, changing rooms and toilets. You can use the bus stop at the IFA holiday park with the "TaktBUS22" bus from Muldenberg, the "Bus90" from Plauen or Oelsnitz, or the "TaktBUS93" from Bad Elster and start the hike straight away.You can find real-time timetable information on the website of the public transport company: www.vogtlandauskunft.de
