A walk through today's mixed deciduous forest, which was created as a game reserve in the 16th century.

The historic Colditz zoo was created in the 16th century as a game reserve, expanded over the course of around 100 years to become a hunting ground and place of entertainment and artistically furnished, making it one of the oldest and most famous parks in Germany at the time. Today, the mixed deciduous forest invites you to take long walks. The start and end point of this tour is Colditz Castle, one of the largest Renaissance castles in Saxony, which boasts an eventful history - from the origins of the medieval castle complex to its heyday as a hunting lodge for Saxon electors. A visit is highly recommended.
