Arrived at Malter railway station, you start your hike. The Kurhausstraße begins opposite the Bella Vista restaurant. Follow this straight on to the adjacent Dippoldiswalder Heide (Dippoldiswalder Heath) and you will reach the Malterweg with the "green line" marking. When you reach the Wolfssäule, turn right and follow the "yellow line". Parallel to the path is a nature trail with a water adventure playground at Steinborn. At the end of the forest path, cross Hohe Straße. You walk along the road on the left for a short distance before the flagstone path branches off to the right. In the lower part of the path you will see a mound with a Tartar grave on the right. Once on Rabenauer Straße, keep to the right, past a wayside column to the Große Mühlstraße junction. Here, at the end of the street, keep left and walk to the intersection of Große Mühlstraße/Brauhofstraße. Cross the historic market square with the town hall or linger over a good cup of coffee with cake and ice cream or something hearty. Strengthened, you cross the Kirchgässchen. You can see the church square with the town church and behind it the castle with the Museum of Medieval Mining in the Ore Mountains. The museum's exhibition rooms contain archaeological finds that are unique in Europe and give an insight into the life and work of medieval miners above and below ground. Continue through the Schloßgang to Bahnhofstraße.
Turn right here and walk straight ahead along Weißeritzstraße to Freiberger Platz. On the left, after about 150 m, you will find the LOHGERBER MUSEUM & GALERIE Dippoldiswalde, which was reopened in 2022 after a three-year construction and renovation phase. After the museum visit, return to Freiberger Platz and follow Reichstädter Straße on the left, along the Polypark multi-generation park to the Weißeritztalbahn station in Dippoldiswalde.
