Once you arrive at Malter train station, you start your hike. Kurhausstraße begins opposite the Bella Vista restaurant. Follow this straight ahead to the adjacent Dippoldiswalder Heide and you will reach the Malterweg trail marked with a "green line". Once you reach the wolf column, turn right and follow the "yellow line" markings. Parallel to the path is a nature trail with a water adventure playground at Steinborn. At the end of the forest path, cross Hohe Straße. Walk left along the road for a short distance before the Plattenweg branches off to the right. At the bottom of the path on the right is a hill with a Tartar grave. Once you reach Rabenauer Straße, keep to the right past a wayside column until you reach the Große Mühlstraße junction. Keep left at the end of the street and walk to the junction of Große Mühlstraße and Brauhofstraße. Cross the historic market square with the town hall or stop for a good cup of coffee with cake and ice cream or something hearty. Strengthened, you cross the Kirchgässchen. You can see the church square with the town church and behind it the castle with the Museum of Medieval Mining in the Ore Mountains. In its exhibition rooms, the museum displays archaeological finds that are unique in Europe and provide an insight into the life and work of medieval miners above and below ground. Continue through the Schloßgang to Bahnhofstraße.
Turn right here and walk straight ahead along Weißeritzstraße to Freiberger Platz. The LOHGERBER MUSEUM & GALLERY Dippoldiswalde, which was reopened in 2022 after a three-year construction and renovation phase, is on the left after approx. 150 m. After visiting the museum, return to Freiberger Platz and follow Reichstädter Straße to the left, past the Polypark multi-generation park to your destination, the Weißeritz Valley Railway station in Dippoldiswalde.
