Glashütte... time lives here!
Glashütte has been an important center of watchmaking for more than 170 years. After the silver discoveries in the Ore Mountains dried up, the Saxon master watchmaker Ferdinand Adolph Lange brought the craft of watchmaking to the town. In 1845, he began to set up his own clock production facility. Other well-known watchmakers soon followed him to Glashütte and the town quickly became the epitome of German watchmaking. The history and fascination of mechanical timekeeping can be experienced at the German Watch Museum Glashütte. Under the motto "Fascination of Time - Experience Time", more than 450 unique exhibits are presented on two floors and brought to life through multimedia.
