Follow the footsteps of George Bähr, the master builder of the Dresden Frauenkirche. He spent his childhood and adolescence in the Altenberg holiday region.

On the approximately 14 km long, moderately difficult circular hiking trail, hikers can find out a lot of interesting facts about the life and work of George Bähr at the individual information boards. In one day you can hike and learn about history on the paths that George Bähr himself may have walked in his childhood and youth. The circular hiking trail leads you through the impressive landscape of our Altenberg holiday region, as well as past unique viewpoints towards Dresden and Bohemia.

 

In the footsteps of George Bähr

George Bähr was born in the Fürstenwalde district and baptized in the small village church. He received his training as a carpenter in the Lauenstein district. His roots here as well as his special life and work were reason enough to found a working group "George Bähr".Information boards are set up along the circular hiking trail, giving interested hikers a deeper insight into the life and work of George Bähr. A hike under the sign of the brilliant master builder and creator of the world-famous Frauenkirche in Dresden.So you are cordially invited to follow in the footsteps of George Bähr.
