From the Lommatzscher Pflege to the Elbe

29.08.2024

Attention!

Due to the recent heavy rainfall events, the Obstblütenweg is sometimes difficult or impossible to cycle on.

Currently:

1. road construction work between Niederlommatzsch and Naundorf with partial full closure

2. Extreme deterioration of the path structure due to heavy rainfall between B6 Wölkisch and the Lautzschen junction

The Obstblütenweg is the shortest connection from Lommatzsch to the Elbe cycle path in Niederlommatzsch. From Lommatzscher Markt, the cycle route leads along Meißner Straße in the direction of Zehren to the end of the town. Turn left here following the cycle path signs. You have reached Ochsenstraße, a historic street. Unfortunately, the quality of the path is very poor over 2.5 km and it is to be hoped that this water-bound surface with many gravel areas and depressions will be renovated as soon as possible. This ox road leads through the wide landscape of the Lommatzscher Pflege to Wölkisch. Here you cross the B6 federal highway and take the road to the old smithy in Oberlommatzsch. Cross the village in the direction of Naundorf. Before reaching the village, turn left onto the hiking trail at the reservoir. You soon reach the asphalt road and Niederlommatzsch. The route descends steeply to the right down to the Elbe cycle path. This is reached at the Landgasthof Elbklause with the Radhaus accommodation and the ferry.

Requirements:

From Lommatzsch, cycle 900 m on the state road until you leave the town and join the Ochsenstraße. The following Ochsenstraße is asphalted for 1.8 km to the Löbschütz/ Paltzschen junction. The remaining 2.5 km must be covered in slightly undulating terrain on a water-bound path, some of which is difficult to ride on and some of which is gravel. In Wölkisch, the main road (Bundesstraße 6) must be crossed with particular care.

The route continues via Oberlommatzsch on an asphalted side road. Before Naundorf, the route turns onto a water-bound path and then joins the district road. In Niederlommatzsch, the route descends steeply for 140 m to the Elbe cycle path.

Special features:

The cycle route is signposted in both directions. Attention is drawn to places of interest. There are directions and distances, orientation boards provide information.
