Our hike begins at the Freital-Hainsberg West S-Bahn station. From there, we cross the tracks on Somsdorfer Straße and the Wilde Weißeritz on Hainsberger Straße, crossing the Red Weißeritz. At the left curve, we go straight ahead and reach Freital-Coßmannsdorf station of the Weißeritztalbahn. We then turn right onto the street "An der Kleinbahn" and walk straight past the shopping center towards the Red Weißeritz. After a few hundred meters, the street becomes the "Rabenauer Grund". A bridge leads us over the river, where we keep to the left upstream. To our right rise the rugged rock walls, and soon we reach the rock tunnel "Nadelöhr", which in the 19th century inspired the painter Ludwig Richter to some paintings. In the river bend, the narrow gorge widens a bit, and we pass a hydroelectric power station. Soon we pass the Arthur Lohse Bridge and the entrance to the Thelerstollen. The mine was once created in search of ore. Then we pass the legendary Nixentump, from which the legend says: "Here lived the old nix, who helped the farmers without reward. Two beautiful daughters were his, who bleached their laundry finely. But as the fiddle tones sounded from Lübau, they fled to the lads. They danced freely and unbound and were gone at midnight." Then we continue our way along the bank of the Red Weißeritz and arrive at the Planwiese, where benches and tables invite you to rest. In spring, the delicious wild garlic grows here. Following the meanders of the river, our path winds further to the Rabenauer Mill, where there is also a narrow-gauge railway stop. The mill, first mentioned in a document in 1235, now houses a hotel and a restaurant. South of the mill, we continue through the forest and soon cross the river again. We continue to follow the bank and soon arrive at Spechtritz, where we reach the Spechtritz stop via the hiking trail and rest area past a footbridge.
