The forest educational trail at Essigsteig is located in the Plauen city forest, in the northern part of the city. The easily walkable 4.5-kilometer-long hiking path with numerous resting opportunities and interesting display boards, as well as interactive elements, is especially suitable for family and school hikes.

On numerous clear information boards, you can find interesting facts about the function of the forest and the different tree and animal species.  Barefoot path, pine cone target throw, animal track puzzle, insect flip board, tactile game and forest playground offer variety and ensure no boredom arises.

Also, one or another elf can be found in the city forest.

In summer, you can then jump into the cool water at the Haselbrunn outdoor swimming pool.

Note for the very young forest visitors: Along the route, there is also a stroller-friendly path (along the main path).
