Take a journey of discovery along the Elsterperlenweg® on a route about 72 km long and explore the middle Elster valley on one of the most beautiful circular hiking routes in the Thuringian Vogtland.

The circular hiking route runs on both sides along the White Elster from the residence town of Greiz, the pearl of Vogtland, via Neumühle to Wünschendorf, the gateway to the Elster valley, and back via Berga/Elster to Greiz. On the way through the romantic valley of the White Elster, the hiker passes dreamy villages, historical places, and unique buildings. Charming panoramic views open up on an interesting low mountain landscape.

A special feature of the path is its cross-connections. For example, in Neumühle, after stage 1, you can cross over to the opposite side of the White Elster and hike back to Greiz on stage 6. These possibilities allow the stages to be combined individually and according to your needs.

Hiking on the Elsterperlenweg® offers, in addition to lots of nature, the opportunity to visit historic sights. At the northern turning point, the hiker finds the 1000-year-old Veitskirche, the Mildenfurth monastery, and the over 225-year-old covered wooden bridge in Wünschendorf.

But even on the way, in the middle of the forest-rich Elster valley, there is much to discover, such as the still operational Clodramühle, the town of Berga/Elster, or the impressive Elster weir in Neumühle/Elster. And further at the southern turning point of the Elsterperlenweg®, in the over 800-year-old residence town Greiz, the hiking trail leads directly through the internationally known Greiz Park to the Upper Castle (with museum) and the Lower Castle just a few meters away with a museum and the St. Mary's Church into the remarkable center of the town Greiz.

Let yourself be inspired by the fascinating nature and follow the traces of the Vogts.
