The "Annaberger Landring" cycle route, which is consistently signposted throughout, can also be ridden as a shorter "northern ring" in addition to the "outer ring". This northern route, located between Annaberg-Buchholz and Marienberg, is almost 33 km long and connects the beautiful low mountain valleys of Preßnitztal, Rauschenbachtal, Sandbachtal and Pöhlatal.

A foray through the upper Ore Mountains - the northern section of the "Annaberger Landring", in the border region to the neighboring Czech Republic, offers breathtaking views for both cyclists and hikers. Whether you're out and about with your family or on a sporting adventure through valleys and over plateaus, the magnificent views invite you to discover and linger - great experiences are guaranteed!

The Annaberger Landring consists of two loops that can be combined with each other. The northern loop is a good 33 kilometers long. It is uniformly signposted throughout and can be ridden permanently, depending on the weather. It is characterized by paved gravel paths, passages on asphalt and pavement as well as controllable forest and meadow paths. County and local roads have to be passed occasionally. The route intersects or touches cycle and hiking trails such as the E3 hiking trail and the Zschopautal cycle trail.

The route can be joined flexibly at many points. We recommend starting at the hiking parking lots in Streckewalde, Boden, Niederschmiedeberg, Obermildenau, Königswalde, Mildenau, Geyersdorf and Thermalbad Wiesenbad, for example. Even if the Nordring does not officially pass through Thermalbad Wiesenbad, the idyllic spa town in the Zschopau valley is signposted as a feeder route and is easy to reach from Geyersdorf via Plattenthal or from Wolkenstein/Niederau via the "Bäderweg". A detour within the thermal region is highly recommended. Elsewhere, the Annaberger Landring meanders idyllically along a disused railroad track parallel to the course of the Pressnitz river as the Preßnitztalweg and can be easily mastered by everyone, especially parents with children in bike trailers. Individual cross-connections are well signposted on the Annaberger Landring.

The attractive route of the Annaberger Landring is characterized by flat sections along rivers as well as moderate to sometimes steeper climbs and descents in the low mountain range landscape.

And even in winter, when there is fresh snow and it is freezing cold, it is a pleasure for every nature lover to discover sections of the Annaberger Landring. Welcome to the "Nordring" in a fabulous low mountain range landscape!
