Discover the historic old town of Görlitz during this tour and be impressed by the atmosphere and the unique architectural monuments.
Many people think that Görlitz is the most beautiful town in Germany and with nearly 4,000 historical buildings it is also one of the greatest monuments of Germany. The historical cityscape of Görlitz is well-preserved compared to others in Central Europe. Fortunately Görlitz was only lightly destroyed in World War II. Furthermore there was an anonymous donor who donated annually one million of D-mark respectively 500.000 euros to the city of Görlitz for more than 20 years. As a consequence of this the so called "Altstadtstiftung" was founded, which is responsible for the preservation of the historic buildings. It is possible to visit the oldest civic Renaissance house of Germany - the Schönhof. The Schönhof was built in 1526 and today you can find the Silesian Museum there.
Another special feature of Görlitz can be found in St. Peter’s Church. The world-famous "Sun Organ" which was built by Eugenio Casparini in the 17th century. The unique organ can imitate sounds such as birdsong.
