Weesenstein Castle

Music playing figures of angels adorn the organ of the Weesenstein castle chapel - centrepiece of the castle which is situated in the romantic Müglitztal.

Music playing figures of angels adorn the organ of the Weesenstein castle chapel - centrepiece of the castle which is situated in the romantic Müglitztal and is considered one of the most important sacral buildings of the late baroque in Saxony. The figurines tell of a musical tradition established by the family of Bünau: already in 16th/17th century, they maintained a court chapel from which emerged such popular musicians as Andreas Hammerschmidt and Daniel Selichius. Following the tradition, renowned music festivals today invite to Weesenstein Castle. The SchlossCapell concerts with mainly early music are a delight.
