Visitors of the Plauen Lace embroidery demonstration workshop cannot only trace the sophistication of the artistic designs but are also awarded a Lace diploma.
The Plauener Spitze show embroidery is located in a historic ensemble of buildings comprising an embroidery business and an entrepreneur's villa. Embroidery has been carried out at the site since 1902. The old embroidery shop has been a technical museum since 1997. Today, it displays the entire range of mechanical embroidery processes, from hand embroidery machines to automatic embroidery machines. The typical work processes in the lace and embroidery industry are presented. The exhibition makes it clear that Saxon mechanical engineering has had a significant influence on the embroidery industry. The special feature of the show embroidery is the demonstration of historical large embroidery machines from the Saxon engineering companies VOMAG and Kappel. Visitors to the show embroidery not only learn about the technology and design of Plauen lace®, but can also obtain the „lace diploma“.
