The permanent exhibition on the Sonnenstein commemorates the victims of the Nazi "Aktion T4" and shows historical traces at the authentic site.
More than 13,700 mentally ill and disabled people were murdered at Sonnenstein Castle in 1940 and 1941. The killing centre was part of the National Socialist extermination program "Aktion T4".
The current exhibition documents the history of this place and shows rooms that have been preserved in their original state. These include the former gas chamber and the area where bodies were cremated.
A memorial trail with colored crosses along the path commemorates the victims. Information boards explain the historical background from the train station to the memorial.
Regular public guided tours complete the offer. You should plan around 2 hours for a tour.
