Without a doubt, the MDR RADIO CHOIR is one of the European top-class choirs. The repertoire of the ensemble comprises a cappella literature, symphony and opera choirs from almost one millennium of music history. Numerous premières also identify the choir as special ensemble for New Music. Time after time, the performances were honoured with prices, so two times recently with the Echo Classic Award for the CD recordings of Rachmaninow's "Vesper" and Graun's Passion music "The Death of Jesus". Several times a year, the choir inspires with the "Nachtgesänge" in the Leipzig Peterskirche (St. Peter's Church) and attracts first and foremost numerous young listeners with exciting and unusual programmes.
