There’s plenty on offer at the Marienberg Christmas Market: the famous Ore Mountains art of woodcarving, herbs and spices, textiles, cosmetics, gift articles – not to mention lots of special treats brimming with delicate aromas and flavours. The Christmas Market will again be open for three weeks this year, with a wide ranging cultural supporting programme providing for a pre-Christmas atmosphere and lots of fun for its visitors. And Father Christmas is coming everyday with plenty of small surprises for the little visitors. At the weekends, the fairy aunt is coming to tell its Christmas stories, which will help to shorten this time of waiting. The highlight of the pre-Christmas period this year is again the Big Miners’ Parade on the 3rd Advent Sunday, at which several hundred persons in traditional dress as well as mine musicians are expected.
