Kunstkraftwerk Leipzig
Kunstkraftwerkis located in the west of Leipzig - a former industrial district that is now a trendy suburb. After the closure of the power plant in 1992 (commissioning in 1900), it stood empty for several years and was acquired and refurbished in 2012. The focus of its new use is on presenting immersive and digital art.
The spectacular "Immersive Art Shows" immerse visitors into the renaissance era with "LEONARDO DA VINCI - RAFFAEL - MICHELANGELO", take you into the world of the painter with "HUNDERTWASSER experience", let the charm and power of "WORK IN PROGRESS" of an industrial building, or simply enchant with "The Wonder Worlds of Alice".
This immersive art is a form of art experiment that allows a wider audience to feel a new sensory experience. The viewer no longer stands in front of the work or the stage, now the viewer is in the center and becomes an integral part of the work.
Accompanying the immersive shows, Kunstkraftwerk showcases exhibitions of international artists featuring contemporary, international and media-based art. The works range from photography to video art to interactive audiovisual installations.
In addition, company events, private parties, congresses, readings, concerts and various other events take place over an area of over 2000 square meters. The focus is always on our visitors.

Accessibility

- Parking is available on the Kunstfabrik grounds (no designated accessible parking spaces are available).
- The main entrance to the old cogeneration plant is accessible via 3 steps (15-22 cm).
- Step-free access is available via the side entrance to the “Kesselhalle”—wheelchair users please register at the shop/ticket office by phone or with an accompanying person (the door will be opened from the inside).
- The tower levels are accessible only via steps.
- The multimedia shows (interactive light and sound installations) are presented in the Boiler Hall (access via a ramp: 9–10% gradient; 4.80 m long) and the Machine Hall.
- The bistro is accessible via a ramp (8% gradient, 101 cm long).
- Toilet for wheelchair users: Door 110 cm, >200x162 cm in front of and 50 cm to the left or 58 cm to the right of the toilet; toilet height 52 cm; no grab bars available.
