The third Lindenau Cemetery was established in the second half of the 19th century. Numerous personalities from industry, trade and craft as well as politics, sports, and culture are presented. The Lindenau doctor Dr. Ferdinand Goetz, who led the German Gymnastics Festival in Leipzig in 1863 and was for a long time the chairman of the German gymnastics federation, found his final resting place here. The tomb of Max Schwimmer commemorates the well-known painter of Saxony of the 20th century. Additionally, many graves of the deaconesses from the neighboring hospital and from Silesian Grünberg have been established.
