The tour takes us through one of the oldest and most exciting districts of Leipzig. We will show you the impressive villa quarter on the edge of the Aue Forest and tell you about the many important (former) residents - the who’s who of Leipzig's city history. On the outskirts of the village of Leutzsch, an impressive villa quarter was established starting in 1880 on drained Aue forest land. The bourgeoisie created a refuge in the green here. Numerous notable residents can be found: the popular mayor Carl-Friedrich Gordeler, the industrialist Anton Mädler, and the famous painter Bernhard Heisig lived here. Architectural styles from the late 19th century are represented with the Gründerzeit and Art Nouveau. However, there are also sober, functional buildings from the 1920s and 1930s to be seen. We especially recommend the villa of the suitcase manufacturer Anton Mädler, which we can also visit together from the inside.
