"Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella" at Moritzburg Castle

The baroque hunting lodge of Augustus the Strong harbours many treasures and stories that are well worth a visit. In winter, it is the annual fairytale exhibition on the Czech-German cult film "Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella" that attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors to the Moritzburg pond landscape. The Czech-German fairytale film "Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella", which was shot 40 years ago, has achieved cult status with a pre-Christmas urge to be repeated every year and the main motifs
of Karel Svoboda's film music can now be sung along to by generations of fans.

In 2020, the Landesbühnen Sachsen brought the fairytale classic to the film's original location for the first time. After successful seasons, Cinderella fans can look forward to the popular open-air performance again next year, because the successful musical   "Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella"is coming back to Moritzburg! From 6 to 20 June 2025 the cult fairy tale can once again be seen in front of an authentic backdrop on the north terrace of the baroque palace. The production by artistic director Manuel Schöbel transports audiences of all ages into an unforgettable experience with enchanting melodies, magnificent ball gowns and horses.

A total of eleven performances are planned. Tickets for the musical "Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella" also entitle the holder to reduced admission to the Moritzburg Castle Museum.

Background of the story
Božena Němcová's Bohemian version of the famous fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm tells the story of a self-confident, tomboyish girl who takes her fate into her own hands and wins the prince for herself with the help of the miracle hazelnuts, but above all through her own courage, strength and skill and insistence on recognising herself...
