The unusual life of the passionate artist Käthe Kollwitz came to an end in the house on the edge of the Moritzburg castle pond in April 1945. The moving biography of Käthe Kollwitz is kept alive in this only surviving authentic residence. Original graphic works, two sculptures as well as biographical testimonies and photographs provide an insight into her life, which was very unusual at the time.
For many decades, Kollwitz admirers and members of the Freundeskreis Käthe Kollwitz Moritzburg e.V. have been committed to commemorating the most important German graphic artist and sculptor of the 20th century. On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Käthe Kollwitz's death and the 30th anniversary of the Käthe Kollwitz Haus Moritzburg, the special exhibition "Käthe Kollwitz and I" will be ceremonially opened on April 22, 2025 at 7 p.m. Personal contributions by members of the circle of friends will show how they feel particularly touched or inspired by the art and biography of Käthe Kollwitz, or what special memories they have of the association's life. what special memories they have of life in the Käthe Kollwitz House.
Another highlight is the reading from the diaries of Käthe Kollwitz with her great-grandson Jan Kollwitz on 27.04.25 at 5 pm.
